Meet Sassy:

Sassy Is 11 years old and we adopted her from the SPCA as a kitten, she was found abandoned behind a pub. She is the last of the 2 other cats we had, but they passed away. Sassy is like my child and I love her so much, she is very affectionate, especially before she sleeps or before I go to bed. She sleeps right next to my head, and she has been for the past 4 or 5 years now. She is very special to me!

Meet Sadie:

Sadie is our new addition to the family! She is a red and white Siberian Husky, and 11 months old now. We got her June of 2011 and she has been working out great! After Chimo passed away (see blog post May 9, 2011) we wanted another Siberian because we just feel in love with them. Sadie is sweet, hyper, silly, and happy. She is doing training right now and she is doing really well (the picture below was taken when she was about 3 or 4 months old)

Why do children seem to be the victims of most Pit bull attacks? I read so many news stories everyday about pit bull attacks and a lot of them are small kids being the victims of it. There is a lot of reasons like the dogs were trained to kill, attack, socialized, or not even trained, but also NEVER leave a dog alone with a child, IT DOES NOT MATTER WHAT BREED. I once read a story about a Pomeranian who killed a child while the owner left the dog alone with the child for just a few minutes. It should be common knowledge that you never leave a child alone with a dog. No matter what breed, shape or size, you just don’t. Pit bulls do make wonderful companions for family’s with children! Pits and children go great together, however please make sure you socialize your pit bull and train and raise it properly because its possible to run into these problems. EVERY dog should be raised and trained, no matter what the breed. I stress this because most people think that only the “tougher” breeds should be trained and sometimes people are careless with training.

Alright, I guess the title of this post speaks for itself. Whenever I see or hear about a new BSL law being put in, it makes me angry. The senator of District 9, Bernalillo, Sue  Beffort. She is planning to ask the governor to introduce a legislation this January. It will be a “dangerous dog” law and under this “dangerous dog” law Pit Bull will be included and any that share the physical traits of a Pit Bull.

What can YOU do to stop this law?:

Email:  Sue.Beffort@nmlegis.gov

Call: Capitol phone:  (505) 986- 4395 Home:  (505) 292-7116

I WILL be sending a email to say that I oppose this horrible law! If you want to stop this act, then you should call or write and tell them you oppose this law too. One person can make a difference, and if you live in New Mexico and own a Pit Bull and you don’t want your family member to be euthanized because of its breed  then call or email! And even if you don’t live in New Mexico then you should still do it because you will be saving countless Pit Bulls from being killed. Save the breed!
