8 year old pit bull named Lily pulled her 54 year old owner to safety from an oncoming train May 3rd. Christine Spain, Lily’s owner, was walking home from her boyfriends house when she then collapsed on to the train tracks. Christine Spain suffered no injuries, however Lily did. Lily fractured her pelvis and lost a leg to save her owner.

Lily was hit by the train to save her owners life, if that’s not loyalty then what is? This was a touching story that shows a pit bulls loyalty. “My hope is that this story is going to get out and show what pit bulls are truly about.” said Boston Police Officer David Lanteigne. Hes right, hopefully this does show people that pit bulls aren’t these mauling machines that they are portrayed to be. Lily helped Spain decrease her drinking problem and kept her sober, Spain is emotionally scarred from this said her son (Lanteigne). Lily is in critical care and it will cost thousands of dollars for Lily’s physical therapy but good people around the country are raising money for Lily and around $40,000 has already been donated.

McDonald’s you have me absolutely disgusted. As soon as I heard about their new radio ad I had to listen for myself to hear what all the hype was about. “Trying a brand new item isn’t risky, you know whats risky? Petting a stray pit bull”  I am so angry and offended. I just cannot believe these complete IGNORANT and STUPID people! Actually, trying one of your gross chicken bites is 100 times more risky than petting a stray pit bull! McDonald’s is very much insinuating that petting a pit bull is dangerous and not safe. Their telling people and creating this false image of a pit bull and now millions of people have heard this ad and probably most believe it. Because some people think if its said on the radio, it must be true. One company has made this dog look like a monster in one 30 second radio ad…and millions of people have heard it and believe it. McDonald’s should be ashamed of themselves, pit bulls give nothing but love, affection, and loyalty and this is what they get in return? Show McDonald ‘s your disapproval and how disgusted you are by posting a photo with a sign! I’ll be doing one to show McDonald’s how stupid and ignorant they are.

5 year old pit bull, Maximus, defended his owners life when the owners brother in law came to collect a loan from Dwayne Wilkey’s (owner) ” There was some altercation between he and his brother in law, Johnson , during the altercation, the suspect pulled out a knife” says Troy Elwell, Aiken County Sheriffs Office. Investigators say that during the fight Maximus, was aware his owner was in danger, unlocked his kennel with his nose and attacked Johnson. Officers say that Johnson was stabbing Maximus repeatedly. “I loved my dog to death. He was my baby”  says Wilkey. Johnson is facing several chrages, including assault with intent to kill and ill treatment of animals. He is being held at the Aiken County Detention Center on $15,000 bond.

To me, this is a touching story of a loyal pit bull. He sensed danger and faced it, unfortunately he died trying. Pit bulls are so loyal to their owners and will protect them if in harms way, this courageous dog died protecting his owner.

I hate the way that Rottweilers, Doberman, and Pit bulls are portrayed  on commercials, movies, tv shows, and music videos. Except for pit bulls, the Rottweiler and the Doberman make great guard dogs, but is that all that they have to show about them on tv? Is that what people only think their good for? And now unfortunately to television and the media they fear them. People don’t see the good in them, they are extremely loyal, and very loving dogs. I never judge or have judged a dog before getting to know them first, and this is what tv has done to these dogs reputation, people just assume. I know that a Rottweiler can be mean and same as a Doberman, however they are natural watch dogs, but any dog can bite, kill, and attack. It doesn’t matter what breed it is. It pretty much depends on how they are raised, how they are bread, and if they are bread to be natural watch dogs. This doesn’t mean we can go ahead and just assume that these dogs are mean and vicious. And like the pit bull, people are trying to ban them too, which is not right at all. Save these wonderful dogs from extinction!
